1. Post Office
The Post Office is the perfect place to take your passport photo. Not only can you take your picture here, but you can also apply for your passport. We love a 2-for-1 deal. The best part is that there is a Post Office in almost every city in America, allowing easy access.

2. CVS
CVS is a good place to take your photo because it’s not usually crowded with too many people , so if you want to get in and out this is the place for you.
CVS uses a special photo tool called The KODAK Biometric ID Photo System. Which is Government compliant. CVS claims that this system automatically verifies your photos meet all government requirements. You’ll receive two prints, one with your ID photos and one with your verification certificate
It will cost you $16.99 with the option to purchase two additional photos for $2.99.
3. Walmart
Who doesn’t appreciate Walmart? Even if it isn’t your favorite place they’re always there when you need them. They are also efficient. Walmart only charges $7.44 for their passport photos( according to their website), you can also have your picture ready in 1 hour!
4. You can also take it yourself!
This may be considered the best option because it’s pretty much free! Make sure that you take your photo against a white background and you shouldn’t have any issues.
Here are the guidelines required for a passport photo as outlined by the U.S Government
- Submit a high-resolution photo that is not blurry, grainy, or pixelated.
- The correct size of a passport photo is:
- 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm)
- The Head must be between 1 -1 3/8 inches (25 – 35 mm) from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head
- Printed on matte or glossy photo-quality paper.
- Do not digitally change the photo.
- You cannot submit a damaged photo with holes, creases, or smudges.
